In terms of the policy of the company, EA told Eurogamer that FUT's lootboxes "are an aspect to FIFA that players love FUT 23 Coins," and that "giving players the choice to spend whenever they'd like would be fair." It doesn't have plans to change its approach to "surprise mechanics" unless laws are passed that require it to.

It's not going to make the situation any better however it is worth noting that due to some of those laws you are able to currently set weekly limits on FIFA points and pack open within Ultimate Team, and see the likelihood of getting an extremely rated player prior to opening packs. FIFA 23 also features time-limited Preview Packs in which you can look over the contents of a pack before deciding whether to purchase it. However this is currently only applicable to only one pack of cards that renews daily.

FIFA 23 is a wild end of the game (under its current title at the very minimum) and a great accent on the stage. FUT Moments action replays, game-changing gameplay tweaks that are viral such as Power Shots make it a more thought-provoking, memorable game of football simulation, with thoughtful defense, as well as plenty of goals and drama. But EA's Spartan approach to the modes which don't generate revenue ensures FIFA 23 is an all-too-familiar game compared to previous versions, and Ultimate Team's emphasis on microtransactions is taking part of the fun of the game.

FIFA 23 is out worldwide in all regions. EA Sports are continuing to provide content for the new game, including the new game's release Marquee Matchups on October 6th 2022.
